Donate to humanitarian aid in Ukraine

List of organizations and ways to help

I wanted to donate to organizations that provide humanitarian aid to people in Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees but I didn’t know which organization to donate to and which organizations are doing the work on the ground.

I did some research and compiled a list of the organizations that I donated to or considered donating.

I’m aware that, even in times of war, there are people who try to take advantage of the circumstances, and that scammers have set up websites collecting donations for aid to Ukraine.

I verified that the organizations listed below are real, credible organizations, and I chose them specifically for the type of help they provide to the people in Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees.

Although some donate URLs look funky (like the direct donate link for the SUPPORT HOSPITALS IN UKRAINE — https://4agc.com/donation_pages/17ecad83-3e94-4f4f-9504-a8f85d456b08?referral_page_id=e9aca7e4-13d5-4e67-b6bd-548f94822793&referral_page_type=FundraiserPage), I verified that these are credible links. I did not donate to every organization listed below, so I can’t speak from personal experience as I didn’t go through the entire donation process with each of the organizations on the list, but I did verify that the link is correct and is a direct donate link provided by the organization.

Personally, I donated to Voices of Children (Голоси дітей), Support Hospitals In Ukraine, and Nova Ukraine organizations.

One last callout since I didn’t provide these details in the descriptions below: some of these organizations are 501(c)3 registered non-profit organizations and provide US tax deductible donations. I haven’t researched this aspect closely but, if that’s important to you, just check the organization’s 501(c)3 status by following the donate links.

I’ve also included, where applicable, links to donate with a company match through Microsoft.

  • Provides art therapy and mobile psychological assistance to children affected by war, and individual assistance to families in need in Luhansk and Donetsk regions affected by the war conflict.
  • The Voices of Children Charitable Foundation has grown out of Lena Rozvadovska’s volunteer work in eastern Ukraine since 2015. At that time, our efforts were focused on evacuation and emergency assistance to victims of hostilities on the front line.
  • Later we helped to create a center for psychological assistance in Sloviansk, organized treatment and rehabilitation for injured children. In addition, they rebuilt destroyed homes and helped families cope with the hardships of life on the front lines on a daily basis.
  • Today, we are developing programs that will help children overcome the consequences of traumatic military events. One of them is art therapy. It is especially suitable for children who find it difficult to describe in words their emotions, feelings, fears. And yet — helps reduce stress and cope with anxiety. Learn more about art therapy and other programs here.
  • To give children a voice, we create videos with their participation. The main principle is not to portray children as victims to be pitied. On the contrary, for us they are all winners, because they face much stronger circumstances. Watch our videos here.

  • US$4.05 million is the value of the humanitarian medical cargo (equipment and supplies) delivered to hospitals in Ukraine in 2014–2022 by the International humanitarian project ‘Support Hospitals in Ukraine’.
  • Our team is committed to supporting Ukrainian hospitals with much needed modern medical equipment and supplies. We are doing this in a sustainable, transparent and cost-effective manner by partnering with one of the largest US medical surplus recovery non-profit: Project C.U.R.E. as well as numerous NGOs in the United States and Ukraine.
  • Thanks to the support of our partners and the project model, for $1 of donations we are able to ship to Ukraine $25–30 of medical equipment and supplies. All the work on the project is done on a strictly volunteer basis, the project has 0% overhead, and does not handle donation money.
  • We are committed to raising $500,000 to send twenty 40-foot containers to Ukrainian hospitals in Kyiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, and other cities.

  • Sunflower of Peace has officially started a fundraiser to prepare first aid medical tactical backpacks for paramedics and doctors on the front lines.
  • In 2014–2016 those backpacks helped paramedics and doctors on the front lines save hundred and hundred of lives. Those were the bags they didn’t leave out of their sight as they had everything to preserve a person’s life and get them to proper medical care alive. It meant the world to them then and it will mean the world to them now.
  • Each backpack has the ability to save up to 10 lives: Ukrainian soldiers, civilians, volunteers, and children. These backpacks are designed for a second level of medical care in terms of combat action, according to the standards of tactical medicine (Tactical Combat Casualty Care), namely the level of paramedics, arrow-sanitary department.
  • The backpack’s contents are specially designed to be used by highly skilled military combat groups — marines, special forces units and intelligence. These groups operate in areas without access to Medical Facilities or Emergency Care. Therefore, it’s crucial that each combat group have a soldier capable of acting as a medic on the spot.
  • Each backpack is designed for groups of 5 to 10 people and includes a variety of first aid supplies: bandages, anti hemorrhagic medicine like Quikclot and Celox, medical instruments, and a means for survival in extreme conditions.

  • Leleka Foundation is a US-based charitable organization that raises funds for implementing various social and medical projects in Ukraine.
  • In the wake of the massive Russian invasion of Ukraine that started in Feb 2022, we are focusing on the urgent procurement and supply of critical medical supplies to Ukraine’s defenders and civilians. For this purpose, we have rebuilt the logistics chain to deliver all supplies to Poland from where our partners deliver them to recipients in Ukraine.
  • We have built on several volunteer initiatives (including Saving Lives in Ukraine and Narodnyi Tyl) which, since May 2014, have worked to support persons wounded and displaced as a result of the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine. We provide humanitarian aid: purchase first-aid kits and medicine, help field ambulances and hospitals. We also provide targeted aid to the gravely sick and wounded.
  • Ukrainian word ‘leleka’ translates as ‘stork’ into English. In the Ukrainian culture, the stork symbolizes peace, happiness, home and family.
